FormatSwitch is built so your files never leave your device.

How it works

Every conversion on this site runs inside your browser using standards-based libraries. When you drop a file into a tool, it stays in your computer's memory. We don't upload it. We don't proxy it. We don't have a server that can see it.

What we collect

We don't require an account, and we don't run third-party analytics or ad networks that profile you. The site only ships the JavaScript needed to perform conversions locally.

What stays on your device

To make the app feel faster on your next visit, your browser stores a few small things locally — never on our servers:

• Your recently used tools, so we can show them on the homepage.
• Your quality and format presets per tool, so you don't reset them each time.
• A small cache of the app's own JavaScript, so it opens offline.

None of this contains your file content. Clearing your browser's site data for FormatSwitch removes all of it instantly.

Deleting your files

Because nothing is uploaded, there is nothing on our side to delete. On your side, the "Clear files" button releases the file from memory immediately, and closing or reloading the tab does the same.
